I was expecting a more functional product. But this did not work with my PS4 or PS5. It worked alright with my TV. But it wasn't too agreeable with my computer and monitor. With the playstation, the screen would periodically drop which made games unplayable. With my computer and TV it worked pretty well. But when i hooked up my computer monitor, it didn't like the 1440p resolutions. It instead just sent 1080p and my monitor had to decide between stretching or centering. Not ideal. There aren't a lot of instructions or support to be found so the above are the results of my best attempts. And i am a little frustrated and less than impressed.

This is a review of Avedio Link’s HDMI 2.1 Splitter/Switch – 1-In/2-Out OR 2-In/1-Out.It comes with the splitter/switch unit, a USB charging cable (without any USB charger), and very limited documentation – the best of which is in the setup illustrations. With the limited documentation and some previous experience with these types of splitting and switching equipment, the setup process is relatively easy to perform. When using it to split/mirror your HDMI signal, there’s just the one input HDMI and the 2 output HDMI connections. When using it to switch between 2 input signals, there’s 2 input HDMI and just the one output HDMI connection. That said - The devil is in the details. You need compatible HDMI equipment – cables, switches/splitters and the HDMI transmitting and receiving equipment. This is noted in the documentation. This unit supports HDMI, version 2.1. The current version of HDMI is version 2.1a which was released in February 2022.The splitting/mirroring of an HDMI signal to multiple devices is subject to HDCP copy protection enforcement implemented in the HDMI devices carrying and receiving the signal – which can include splitters as well as the display devices. When using it as an HDMI splitter, I tested it to mirror non-copy protected HDMI output from my phone to 2 separate HDMI-based TVs. It worked fine for that purpose, but that wasn’t really how I wanted to use it.My intended use for it is as an HDMI switch so I can select between each of my 2 computer system’s HDMI audio/video outputs to display it on a single monitor with speakers. It worked for that purpose. It really helps free up some of my valuable desk real estate.I did not see any reference to HD Content Protection (HDCP) version support in their documentation. Depending on your usage, this could be important information to know.

I am pretty happy with this Avedio Links bi-directional HDMI switch. I have 2 consoles that share the same monitor and this switch works exactly as needed, as it supports the maximum potential of my monitor without losing any refresh rate speed for either device. The build quality feels good and it’s easy to use. It’s also a great small form factor size which is the main reason I got it so that I don't have to keep switching the inputs on the side of my monitor.

Nice and compact, the button to switch is right on the top which is convenient for someone like me using it on a desk to switch between the laptop or any device I am working on to fix.It comes additional with a USB-C cable, but I personally didn't need that as the box worked fine without it (HDMI carry's out enough power to get going).I tested bidirectional (i.e. connections in reverse) got a signal and had no problem with the quality. On my initial test I noticed some snow dots, but that was only because I didn't use ver2.1 cable as suggested, once switched my cables the device worked flawlessly.Value for money is what I had to take a star off as the device retails for just under £30 which is a little too high for what it does, yes I understand it does 8K but frankly it's still high.Quality: Yes, no cheap plastic, all metal parts, personally I'm very happy with it as I do like the bidirectional operation.

I'm not much of a computer-type but I do like things that work without complaint and make my life easier. This doohickey quietly does both.

I own both a PlayStation 5 and an Xbox Series X but my TV only has 1 2.1 HDMI input that supports VRR and 4K 120Hz. With the Avedio switch I can hook up both then run one (Ultra High Speed) cable to the TV. I did not need to use the included power cable but I wish it had a remote, instead I go to the switch and press the button. Sometimes it seems to detect that one device has turned off and the other powered on and switch by itself, but that does not always work or creates a wait for the TV to come back to its picture. All in all, I am happy with it and can now enjoy the highest picture quality when I am gaming.

My use case using this HDMI splitter is to send output from my Marantz AV receiver to either my 4K Epson 5050UB projector or a 1080P computer monitor. Sometimes I want to play music from a streaming service without running the projector to access the Amazon Music app. This switch keeps me from needing to swap cables in the back of the receiver. Well worth buying just for this. The switch works for me without requiring USB power but powering the switch anyway because it was easy to do with my setup. So why only 4 stars? Switching between the 4K and 1080P outputs does not force a HDMI handshake so I must cycle the power on my receiver to resync the connection and get video output. Not a deal breaker once I figured out what was happening. I'm not sure any affordable HDMI switch can do this but it would be nice feature.I was concerned the switch might have a problem with my 32 foot fiber HDMI cable running to the projector. These cables have an input and output end and must be connected correctly. I did lose video for about 10 seconds while on YouTube but I've not been able to recreate the issue so I can't say for sure the switch had anything to do with this. Watched a lot of video since then without issue.Overall, this HDMI switch is a good value and a welcome addition to my equipment rack.

This HDMI bidirectional switch now works well and flawlessly after initial difficulty that was a HDMI cable problem. I have a mini-PC that I wanted to hook up to one monitor in my multiple monitor PC setup. When trying to install this switch, the monitor display kept going in and out when the mini-PC was selected, but worked fine when my main PC was selected as the source. I figured ok, maybe the mini-PC doesn't put out enough power for the switch, which is why they included the USB-C charging cable. No difference it still went in and out with the charging cable inserted. After some frustration and making sure no cables were loose and more troubleshooting, All the HDMI cables were the same and new, but I decided to change out the HDMI cable going to the mini-PC as a last resort. Surprisingly, the switch now worked perfectly, is quick to change over, and even no longer needed the USB-C charging cable. So, if you are having trouble, try swapping HDMI cables before giving up. This product should have an option to include the 3 HDMI cables. After using the switch for several days, I am quite happy with it now.

This HDMI 2.1 Switch lets you connect two high-definition HDMI sources to a single HDMI display. It supports a range of impressive resolutions, including 8K@60Hz, 4K@120Hz/144Hz, and 1080P@240Hz, making it an excellent choice for those seeking high-end displays. One of the things I noticed about the HDMI 2.1 Switch is its transfer rate of up to 48Gbps and refresh rates of 120Hz. This ensures that the signal is stable and of superior quality, which is especially important for gamers and movie enthusiasts.I particularly liked that it is backwards compatible with previous HDMI standards, which means no need to replace all your existing cables. The HDMI 2.1 Switch is also made of durable aluminium alloy material, making it sturdy and resistant to physical damage. The material also functions efficiently to dissipate heat, which is a significant concern for users of electronic devices. Furthermore, it is resistant to fingerprint marks, ensuring that your device looks clean and polished at all times.Overall, it is a reliable HDMI Switch and good value for the money.

The HDMI switch arrived in a branded small cardboard box, inside the switch is sat in a plastic insert for protection, you also get an information booklet included, all packaging is recyclable. The switch is compact, it feels sturdy and the connections are a good fit and feel secure when in position. This is a manual switch that is controlled using the button in the centre to switch between inputs 1 and 2, a red light is displayed to show what connection has been selected, it takes a few seconds for the inputs to switch and my TV to recognise the source and display the correct image, I have tested this switch at 4k using my PS5 and Xbox Series X as the inputs and my LG C1 as the display output without any issues, it was quick to setup and works well to display 4k HDR from the games consoles.Note:8K resolution within 1.5 meters (4.9 ft)4K resolution within 3 meters (9.8 ft)1080P resolution within 8 meters (26.2 ft)Please Note: This item is just the switch and high quality 2.1 HDMI cables are required for the best results, if you are like me and wanted to swap inputs from PS5 to Xbox without getting behind the TV then you will need an extra HDMI 2.1 cable, the cables for the consoles are good enough you just need an extra one to go from the switch to the TV and needs to be less than 3 meters in length.I have not used the USB-C additional power input (cable supplied) as there is enough power coming through the cables from the consoles to self-power it, although sometimes the screen does go blank for a second or two so I will connect to see if this fixes the issue. The switch can also be used as one input and two outputs but only one display can be used at a time.Overall, the switch is compact and easy to use, displays images and frame rates as specified, thank you.

In a nutshell:Things I liked:+ Worked flawlessly at 1440p / 75Hz.+ Very little lag when switching over - switched quickly and smoothly.+ Very decent construction - all metal body means durability should be good.+ Extremely simple to use.Things I didn't like:- Cables come out of opposite ends of the switch. Given that there is no remote, it means this switch has to be easily accessible wherever you want to use it but there will definitely be visible cables sticking out. If all three cables were routed out of the back, cable management would be tidier.- Needs 5V USB power, although when I measured how much power was consumed, it was below the threshold of measurement (i.e. less than 0.5W).Do I recommend it?Yes, it's a well-made switch that does the job it's asked to with no fuss. Just make sure you're aware of the cabling situation before you order - if you're planning on having it as part of a setup where you want to keep cables hidden away, this might cause you one or two headaches.
