I used to live in the woods where we split wood for heat. Had all the tools needed. Now we live in the 'burbs so when we go camping grabbing some free firewood and splitting it is a hassle. This made is a bit easier on last weeks trip. Did a couple of rounds in a few minutes.

I attached this to my hammer drill. It works okay on small, dry pieces of wood, but gets stuck in anything too soft or any hardwood. I tried it on some very old railroad ties, probably made of oak, but splitting apart because they are so old. They were about 12" long and very dry. One split off with this tool on my hammer drill, but it got stuck in the next one. They split easily with a small hatchet, so using this tool is a waste of time, but it didn't work consistently. I tried doing it like they show in the product videos, to split off the edge of a dry, 14" log, but it got stuck most of the time. I'll probably keep it, since it didn't cost much, but its not the time and effort saver it is advertised to be.

This lasted less than 30 seconds! I used it with a Milwaukee heavy duty hammer drill with TONS of torque - the bit would not handle even a piece of dry pine firewood. After it bogged down my drill I backed the bit out and tried again.Smaller piece of pine - same result. After backing off the second time the threads were totaled- STRIPPED like they were plastic. This was trash.I considered re-tapping the threads, but threw it in the trash instead. This bit is not even worth its weight in scrap.Don’t even think about buying this - donate $20 to charity instead. You will feel better.

I did my research and watched videos on how to use this. Many were using battery powered drills which weren't powerful enough, so I figured I would get it and use my very powerful electric Hilti hammer drill. I did not go on the top of the log, wen't on the side like the video showed and it got about 1/2" in and jammed. Luckily I was holding on to the drill tight enough that it did not spin and hurt me. If you have ever drilled into steel where the bit gets stuck and but the drill keeps going, that is what happened here. Tried to back it out but could, needed to loosen with a hammer! Figured, ok, would try again on smaller side, wood was dry and old, did the same thing! The log was maybe 4-5" around, pretty small, this is maybe meant for tiny branches or something, but I would not waste your money on buying one. Use a good old axe and split it the old fashioned way!

I've tried this product with five different sizes of drills it goes maybe an inch or 2 inch into the log and just stops. I'm not even going to waste my time with the video this thing is by far a joke
