If you cross larger bodies of water in a canoe or kayak, buy this. It has prevented a very bad day for me on several occasions. Maybe it's a windy day with big waves, or some jerk in a big power boat broadsides you with their wake and dumps gallons of water in your boat. This thing works fast and there are no complicated parts. Just take it apart and let it dry after each use, that's it. Most days you wont need it, but when you do, you'll be glad it's there. Also you can get water out without flipping it over.

The bilge pump arrived on time in good shape. It is a simple device but worked like a champ the first time I had to use it. A couple days after receiving the pump my wife rolled her kayak and it quickly filled with water. The bilge pump emptied the water in a few minutes. It isn't the fastest device on earth but does work for its intended use. Glad I bought it. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that it doesn't have a tube to attach to the outlet. Therefore on the down stroke water spits out of the short outlet nozzle and most of that ends up back in the kayak. Most of the water is being expelled on the up stroke so it isn't a major defect, just aggravating to have the water going the wrong way.

Awesome. Get one if you want to get water outta your inflatable while floating the river. Easily buy some tube to extend and your self bailing and you look cool b/c you can put stickers all over your bitchin pump.

I haven't needed to save my life with it yet, but it worked great when I tried it out. I really like that there are replacement parts available for this, too.I'm a fan of Seattle Sports gear and this one is no exception. Nice pump. Buy it.

It says 8 gallons per minute and if I were younger and a little faster it just might be possible. However, although I am slow, I still appreciate how well this is put together. I like that it comes apart easily and can be dried out between uses. I added about 2 ft of clear plastic 1" hose to it. The hose had to be placed in a jar of very hot water to soften it, but then slipped right on and made a good tight seal without the need for any hose clamps to get rusty or scratch against things.

Excellent quality, you can get cheaper pumps that will work.....the first couple of times but why risk it. I'm on my kayak, sometimes in depths of hundreds of feet, miles away from land; I'd rather have the ability to change out a few parts than call on my inner MacGyver in an emergency. Overall, I'll be buying two more for my other kayaks because the first one smashed the benchmark for quality out of the park.

I bought a cheap one and this one. This one is much better. Only complaint is for the price, which is too high, it should have come with an overflow hose to easily pump water out of the boat. All the cheap ones have it. Still buy this one and save yourself a lot of headache out on the water
