I purchased this late November. I noticed the bulb was not on and went to see if it had gotten losses and the bulb exploded and shattered. I unplugged from power and removed entire bulb and then put in another bulb and it no longer works at all. Not sure what the cause is/was but I just purchased less than 3 months ago. What a waste of money.

I have chosen to have Repti zoo products for my bearded dragons vivarium. They last a long time and are designed with of a skillful mind! This light is durable and sturdy and does exactly what I needed to do without it being complicated. Simple on an off switch that I usually toggle to a timer my past light fixtures by this company lasted 5+ years, I expect the same with this one. I only wish they made all light fixtures, deep, but I suppose not all vivarium.

I've had Bearded Dragons for the past 10 years and these dome lamps are the type I use for the basking bulbs and the UVB bulbs they need to stay healthy and prevent bone diseases. These bigger 8.5inch lamps are the best in my opinion because they spread the light out more and if they are in bigger cages like mine this size helps spreading the light out more. So, mine are pretty old and I have been wanting to get some new ones so when this one came a long, I grabbed it. Especially, because of the feature that none of my other lamps have. This one has a dial on the switch to turn the light up and down. This is so neat and can be useful during certain times of the year.Now, for is the disappointing part of this review. When I received it from the mail, I opened it up and noticed that it had been bent. It had been bent pretty bad with two opposite sides caved in. I thought how the heck could that of happened. Because the metal on these is pretty tough. You can't just bend them yourselves or anything. At least not until now. I picked it up and tried manipulating it to see if I can fix it back and to test the metal strength of it. And just like that I bent it back into place. This metal is not like the metal on my other domes. You aren't supposed to be able to do that. I kept manipulating the metal on all sides until it was back to a normal circle. This is just thin cheap metal. And the cord with the adjusting nob on it looked pretty cheap too. All is functional and works although I have only had it a day. It's just the materials are not all that great. But if this isn't a concern for you then it would most likely work fine and do the job you want it to do. For me however, I think I will stick to the dome lamps that can't be manipulated.EDIT: I want to add one positive feature that I hadn't realized before as far as the lamp material is concerned. I was talking negatively before about the lamp. Here I will write something positive. Because its aluminum and that is the reason it bends easily, it also doesn't get as hot as the ones made from a different metal like the ones I have had in the past. This could be a very good thing. Especially, if you have a kid who has the Bearded Dragon and is taking the responsibility of cleaning and taking care of the lamps. If anyone has had Bearded Dragons know just how hot these lamps get. They can be very dangerous. So, you have to be very careful. But with these it takes away at least half of the heat from the lamp. But it doesn't take away any heat from whatever lizard you have in the cage. This would be wonderful for a younger person. I will give a star back for this.
