My son was 4 months old at the time and he is on the lower end for weight (for his age). The material was thick and soft not scratchy. It was a little large for my son, but I would say it fits true to size. Based on “norm” heights/ weights for ages.

I loved this product. Looks and feels very nice. One thing that I did not like is the buttons.. they are not push buttons and it is very hard to make a baby wear it with him/her moving all the time.
