I consider myself as being fairly well read but I must admit that I am not an avid fan of either the “Lord of the Rings” series of books or the movie franchise. So when I ordered this set of bookends it was simply because I was attracted to the regal appearance of the two kings.It was much to my surprise when I received the set that they were proudly announced on the box artwork as Isildur and Anárion, prompting me to research that reference. Turns out that these bookends are miniature replicas of the Argonath, two giant stone pillars, also known as the Gate of Kings, that were carved into either side of a chasm that led into the River Anduin from J.R.R. Tolkien lore. Each giant regal holds an axe in one hand while extending his other arm and hand outward in display of defiance towards their enemies. (Although here, one of the kings wields a sword instead of an axe.)I’m not certain why the sellers (APHBPT) did not promote the Tolkien connection on the Amazon page but I am pleased that I learned something by acquiring these. Perhaps I’ll grab the Rings books or the movies and see what it’s all about.On initial blush, when I first laid eyes on these two, I was mildly disappointed by the apparent lack of obvious detail. On closer inspection, though, most of the features are there, it’s just that the dark gray coloring of the resin seems to mute the fine elements. You can actually appreciate the details much more in the attached photos and the ones on the product page than you can by seeing the actual bookends in natural light. This is a little disappointing for me but it’s definitely not a deal breaker at the rather affordable price.As far as functionality is concerned, each of these is heavy (2.56 pounds) and stands 9.5 inches tall. They will guard your book lineup at least as well as the two kings guarded the entrance to the River Anduin. Being tall and rather thin, though, they may tend to tip over if you want to bookend tall, heavy, reference books. The lack of any non-skid, non-slide elements on the base may also add to some instability.I am happy with this pair, though with the small reservations that I have already mentioned. The features might be better served with a slightly lighter shade to the resin and a bit more heft to the base might help them to hold their weight against tall books. If you are a Tolkien fan, either of literature or from the films, these might be a wonderful treasure to show off on your book shelf.

These bookends are really impressive. The unique craftsmanship is evident in the carefully shaped details and styling. The weight (nearly 6lbs!) means they actually make the book more stable and neat on my desk, unlike flimsy ones. The anti-slip pads are a smart addition. While the 'Lord of the Rings' connection is a bonus, even without it, the romantic and artistic design stands out. They match my modern home style well, proving to be widely matched. My only minor point is they are quite large, so check your space.

I bought these as a gift for my brother, a massive movie fan and avid reader, and he absolutely loved them! They're definitely a must-have souvenir for your collection. The perfect workmanship and unique craftsmanship truly shine. They're heavy enough to hold a substantial collection of books, magazines, and even some video games, helping to keep your room or desk tidy. If you are a LOTR movie fan, this is a wonderful set of book ends. I have my doubts that these are properly licensed however, as there is zero acknowledgment anywhere of the movies or J.R.R. Tolkien.

As a huge Lord of the Rings fan, I had to get these, and they absolutely blew me away! The hand-cast resin and exquisite carving technology truly make these realistic and exquisite. They're not just decorative; at 5.9lbs and 9.8in high, they're super strong and durable and easily hold all my large hardcovers without any slipping thanks to the anti-slip pads. They've added so much cool artistic style to my study. If you love LOTR, these are a must-have souvenir!

These sculptures are absolutely stunning. The design is flawless, with all the detail and texture of real stone. You can place them on either side of a bookshelf to support your books and give your library a truly epic look.Obviously, the design is inspired by a hugely popular book and film franchise that is never mentioned on the box, but when you draw from mythology, a little creative license feels fair.I’m not at all disappointed with the price of this version, which is much lower than the official licensed one, especially since the quality here is absolutely solid.

Solidi, antiscivolo e molto belli esteticamente. Si adattano bene sia a un ambiente moderno che più classico. Perfetti per una libreria o come elemento decorativo da scrivania. Essendo un fan di Lord of the Rings e avendo anche altri gadget ammetto che li avevo sottovalutati, ma devo dire che invece sono perfetti. anche il Packaging è curatissimo e ben protetto

These are the times I wish there were half stars in ratings, because I think this is a 3.5 but I guess I'll round up to 4 in this case just because I'm a LOTR fan.This is exactly what it looks like, it's the Argonath statues from the LOTR movie. It's not advertised as such here, but the box it comes in clearly says Isildur and Anarion on it, which are the two characters portrayed in the statues.I actually own the original miniature Argonath statues from the Fellowship extended DVD set from 2002. The sculpture of these is very similar, just scaled up. However, I prefer the paint job of the miniature ones. These are fully painted, but it's just kind of flat and they could have use some more detail work to give it a weathered look. The pictures are pretty accurate so what you see is what you get. They look better from a distance.They are heavy, but because of the relatively small base and the height, they won't be able to hold the weight of many large hardcover books leaning against them, though paperbacks are no issue. Unfortunately there's no rubber or felt feet on the bottom so I added some sticky felt pads myself since I didn't want the raw polystone on the shelf.Overall I'm pleased with them, I just think they could've put more effort into the paint job (to make them look weathered) and some rubber or felt feet included would be nice.

Fermalibri in resina molto carini e con uno stile Fantasy, che ricordano personaggi di libri tipo il signore degli anelli. Sono davvero ben fatti, resistenti e soprattutto pesanti per poter mantenere in equilibrio tantissimi libri su una mensola o su una libreria...Hanno uno stile particolare, quindi deve piacere altrimenti possono risultare troppo eccessivi, in caso li trovo veramente adorabile e soprattutto dettagliati in ogni minima parte.Ne valgono assolutamente la pena.

I LOVE these bookends - they give me Lord of the Rings vibes. The craftsmanship is really well done, the attention to detail is very noticeable. The material is sturdy but not so heavy that I can't handle them. They add a fun, on theme look to my ever growing book shelf.
