As a Grandpa myself, I thought I would gift myself, even before Fathers Day, just in case I didn't get such a thoughtful gift. Besides, I really wanted to taste my favorite Bourbon in a wood cup to see if a wood cup would preserve the original taste of the bourbon that had originally been aged in an oak barrel.I was pleasantly surprised to see that a wood bourbon "glass" actually did make the bourbon both taste better than a shot glass. As a bonus, my bourbon had a better aroma while I sipped, perhaps because my nose fit the opening of this cup, where it couldn't with a shot glass.As a gift item, this beautiful 6 oz cup is engraved in gold lettering "Grandpa Fuel". Well, had I filled all the way with bourbon, it certainly would have fueled me, but perhaps a bit too much. So I only put about 2 oz in it, so I could better appreciate the aroma without knocking myself out. Along with the cup, my gift included a wood coaster and some reusable "ice" cubes, that presumably need to be chilled in a freezer, before using them. If I had wanted my bourbon on the rocks, the 6 oz cup would have given me room to add these cubes which could chill my drink without diluting and melting it. However, I prefer my bourbon straight at room temperature. So, I haven't tested the cubes.Oh, I forgot to mention that my gift to myself came in a nice round gift box with a card with space on the inside to write an endearing message. For now, I will leave the card blank. I only hope my grandchildren can help.fill it in. But then, they didn't give me this gift. If they give me a 2nd one, I am sure I would appreciate it more than the one I gave myself. The gift of love with a with this gift or even without a gift is the best gift of all.

This isn't a bad set for the price. I picked it up for a coworker who is a new grandparent. They liked the size of the stones and cup. The cup was easy to clean by hand and didn't require much effort. The stones are small enough that they leave plenty of room in the cup for liquid.I liked the overall set and thought it would be a nice gift. There are two things stopping this from being a 5-star rating: the stones warm up too quickly and the stamping on the wooden cup is difficult to read. The stones were put in a freezer for more than 24 hours and they warmed up to room temperature after only 30-ish minutes. That's not too bad, but it means they would need to be rinsed off, dried, and put back in the freezer for at least another couple of hours before they could be used.They aren't meant to sit out for a long sipping session, which is a bit of a bummer. Second, the stamping on the front of the wooden cup is difficult to read. You have to hold it as just the right angle and not have any glare to read the text. The U in Fuel is made up of a whiskey glass and cigar, it doesn't make a U shape.Other than those two things, this is a solid set that the new grandparent enjoyed. Get some better stones or add an ice mold and it will be good to go.
