It comes with the 2 plastic pieces back and front. Also then 4 screws needed. It provides the extra support for thin walls.I think Delta should just supply this piece with their products.

This thing is required for thin wall install it does work. However, its pretty thin and it could afford to be more rigid. I would suggest buying 2 for this kind of job, especially if your not mounting the rough in valve from the back side on a stringer or cross-beam. Oh well, I still got 1 plate to do the job and it still works good enough. Delta is still good stuff overall

Installed a shower surround and this worked perfectly to keep the faucet stable in the thin wall.

Works well for what it is, using this on a thin wall shower insert is more ridged for sure but honestly the strength of the plastic could be increased and stiffen the assembly, delta is on the right track but could use some work, I’m going with 4 stars because it’s nice but could improve, either way I would add it to a thin wall install, cheap insurance

its something I had to have, frankly for a company like Delta, they should have supplied this ring with the kit...why did I have to pay $7 for thin plastic and a few screws? Must cost a whole .50 cents.

This kit made the installation of my Delta R10000-PX shower valve very easy. The two pieces sandwiched my fiberglass shower surround and held it nicely in place. For this kind of installation it made my job that much easier.

While not totally necessary, adding this to the Delta mixing valve adds stability between the shower wall and the unit, especially on walls that are more flexible than others, worth adding it imho. Would be better if Delta just threw it in the kit. Would be even better if it was more rigid, the plastic isn't all that thick.
