I use big ugly rocks to stabilize my basketball hoop, this is a nice way to tuck them away out of sight. The material appears to be waterproof and has a cover over the zipper so should keep the rain out but time will tell…

This bag is quite large, which means it would be extremely heavy if filled completely with sand or rocks. Unfortunately, it just isn’t built for that kind of weight. The material is soft and relatively thin, and the straps don’t seem strong enough to handle even one full lift—let alone repeated use. It might be okay if you plan to fill it once, leave it in place, and never move it again. The zipper is another weak point. It’s very light-duty and absolutely not suited for direct contact with sand. Sand will clog it immediately. You’d have better luck using pebbles or placing sand in a liner before filling the bag, but even then, durability is questionable. That said, if you’re looking for a large, soft-sided bag to carry lighter materials, this could work. Just don’t count on it functioning like a true sandbag—it’s not built for that kind of strain.

I could fill the base of my kid-size basketball hoop with water or sand, but that'd make it more difficult to wheel around. I'd rather use a sandbag like this one, which seems sturdy and large enough to provide even better stability than filling the hoop's base. And it's convenient that I can move the sandbag separately from the base. With the sandbag's soft sides, if it doesn't exactly fit between the braces for the pole, it can still squish in there atop the base.
