This item is rickety Chinese junk. First off, I knew it wasn't going to be American despite the brand name because anything not made in China virtually always celebrates this fact with a bold showing of the country of origin. No such celebration here. However, stainless steel, which this item's description claims that it is, is safe for use with food items (unlike many Chinese-made items) so I felt OK about ordering this corkscrew. The box gave away the deception about the material with the phrase "Heavy Duty Finish" -- yeah, not stainless after all. I visually observed mirror-like plating, which certainly appeared not to be stainless steel. I'm not sure about how the corkscrew works because I packed it up and sent it back. The feel was very wobbly and lightweight - not surprising given the very low price.
