This gauge overall functions flawlessly. Working with mechanical parts for years, I found if you get the intended effect with the least amount of moving parts, you have a winner. That's why I picked this one. Not overly complicated works perfect every time, the coating is perfect, all machined parts are Stainless, great little piece.

As you can make out in the photo, the rule rests in the valley stamped into the black metal frame. The problem (also visible in the photo) is that the white readout line on the frame is then set so far back and to the side of the rule that it is impossible to determine the measurement to better than 1/16" accuracy (which was not enough for the dovetail routing task for which I bought the gauge).I ended up buying one of the alternative electronic gauges (which was only slightly more expensive) and it works beautifully.

I had many problems getting router depth correct until I purchased and used this product. Now I can insure all depths are correct and my imagination can build from here out!

This tool works well for measuring bit width and depths on a router table, but I think it's a bit pricy.

This was a gift to my husband who had been looking for one , he has really liked it anytime I can't find something local I go to amazon . This tool is well made . My husband is very pleased with it
