I was really impressed with this sun shade. it fits nicely in the back of a Nissan Rogue without having to use the suction cups. It does make visibility more difficult so I definitely would not drive with it on at night, but it works awesome at keeping out the heat and the sun and it provides privacy for the things in the back of the SUV. I'ts also super convenient that you can fold it up in its own little storage pouch to keep in the car when not in use.

This is almost completely opaque, I can't see through it at all.If it were flat, like against the rear window of a truck, then you can see through it a little better. But on my car's rear window, which is at an angle, I can't see through it at all. This is NOT something I can drive with. It's ok to put up when parked for extended periods, though it's a bit of a hassle.First, the suction cups fall off easily. If I were driving with the windows down, the wind would knock it down. But more importantly, the suction cups are poor quality. Each suction cup has two pieces, and they fall apart easily. So even if your suction cup stays on the window, the visor might still fall off. And the backing to the suction cup is small, so if it lands on the floor you may not ever find it. I'll have to superglue it together. For a seemingly simple device, this thing has a lot of problems. For reference, my Nissan Altima rear windshield is 50 inches wide x 35 inches tall. This visor is 39 x 19, so it covers about 2/3 of my rear windshield.

I actually ordered this to help dim a neon light in the bedroom instead of to block sun in a vehicle. If you look at the listing images, several show a significant reduction in darkness with this shield in place, and then the "EASY TO INSTALL" image shows maybe a 10% decrease in brightness. This is what to expect. It does dim, but only slightly.I have no idea how much this translates to in terms of UV ray reduction, but if you're looking for brightness reduction, this will only slightly do the job. Now, that could be good for driving since you need to be able to easily see behind you, but don't expect it to be a super-effective shade for light-sensitive eyes.
