Carpenter bee traps are ugly. All of them. Despite the “accent” to your home, I would much rather have that detraction than bee holes. These traps work nicely and I really like the 2-pack. While you may be tempted to just get one trap, you probably need many. Two of the same design, but also change it up and get a couple other designs too.I like these traps. The cups screw in easily and the wood capture block with the holes looks about as good as it can look. I’ve had bee traps where the diameter of the holes is too small and the bees avoid them. These holes look to be just the right size.I wish the hanging ropes were made of a better material. The cheap nylon has a tendency to not stay knotted. I used a lighter to soften the rope at the knot and then tightened it for a minute. That seems to hold the knot in place. Since the rope is cheap and easily replaced, I did not ding the rating because of it. I do wish the rope were nicer though. The metal eyelets were easy to screw into the predrilled hole on tool.Overall, these are nice traps and simple to get set up.

These are well made and I like that the jars or plastic but they are a little smaller than I expected. Other than that I'm pleased

I have an unfinished pine structure that has carpenter bees boring into the ceiling. I didn't even know there were bees that did this until I saw them slipping away into tiny holes last summer. Fast forward to this summer, they brought all their friends. I don't want to paint my structure and I don't want to use pesticides unless nothing else will work, so I hung these traps near their holes per instructions. I'm happy to say that I have already caught 4 bees since last night. Instructions say to leave bees in the trap, because they help attract more to the trap. I do feel a little bad letting them die in there, but this is a better/safer choice for the other pollinators in my yard that aren't eating my gazebo. As for set up, just screw the eyehook into the pre drilled hole, and hang near existing bee holes. They are very easy to install and empty if needed, by unscrewing the plastic jar.

If you see wood bees you need these! They are a tad pricey but your wood structures they will destroy will cost a lot more to replace. I put this one out today was going to hang it higher but they jumped right in so guess I will leave it there for a bit. Don't be discouraged if they do not go right in just be patient and move it until you find the sweet spot. Once one goes in others seem to follow. They do so much damage boring in everything, got in my expensive porch swings that was enough for me. I do not completely empty them leave a few to attract more once filled. When the season is over I put them up and blow them out with canned air to ensure the holes are not blocked.

Comes with instructions, string that is near impossible to tie into a knot, and a couple of eye screws. Blocks are hollow with angled holes drilled into it. Haven't caught one yet but I have them installed. They say once you catch one they attract more.
